Dr. Roger Sinclair is an Academic Partner of Prophet and consults exclusively for our clients. He is the originator of the globally respected BrandMetrics valuation methodology - one of the world's most fascinating and useful measures of a brand's worth.
He recently retired from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), Johannesburg, after 5 years as professor of marketing and head of the marketing department. He is currently an honorary professor at Wits, (awarded in recognition of his contribution to the faculty) where he teaches brand management at the post-graduate level.
Roger is a popular speaker at conferences and writes regularly for business, management, marketing, and academic journals. He was a reviewer for Philip Kotler’s Marketing Management, Analysis, Planning, Implementation and Control, he wrote the financial accounting section of Kevin Lane Keller’s Strategic Brand Management, which features the BrandMetrics valuation methodology and he is the author of the chapter on Trademarks and Brands in the recently published (2010) Wiley’s guide to Fair Value under IFRS. This is the world’s leading manual on the valuation of and accounting for intangible assets.
In 2006, he completed the valuation of the South African nation brand. This is a follow up to the initial valuation he conducted in 2003, which was a world first.
Roger has a Master of Commerce degree (M.Com.) and PhD from Wits.
