David is creative strategist who has spent his career providing strategic and creative direction for ambitious brands who want to grow. He is a design thinker with 15 years’ experience in industrial design & technology, advertising, and brand consultancy.
Much of his work has been with companies in the technology & telecom sectors, including HTC (David spent two years on the team developing their ‘quietly brilliant’ brand), Orange, Huawei, Oppo and MediaTek, for whom he recently defined their positioning in the IoT space. David also leads Prophet’s work for notable clients including ThyssenKrupp, Malaysia Airlines and Bank of East Asia out of our Hong Kong office.
David moved to Asia from London in 2010 to establish and lead the Hong Kong office for creative consultancy Figtree (acquired by Prophet in 2012). He is the senior leader on Prophet’s Concepting team, a group of innovative thinkers who use collaborative creative techniques to develop breakthrough ideas and disruptive solutions across our client portfolio. He is a regular media commentator, whose work and views have appeared on Bloomberg, in the FT and the South China Morning Post, as well as numerous trade titles.
Outside work, David builds on his passion and eye for innovation as an active angel investor, with a portfolio of startups in online video, ad tech, virtual reality and vaping. He is involved with Hong Kong’s emerging startup scene as a brand and marketing mentor at the Hong Kong chapter of the Founder Institute, the world’s largest startup incubator program.
