John Holton


John is a Partner in Prophet’s Hong Kong office, and he brings 20 years of experience helping companies change for the better.

He is a commercially-minded creative strategist with a strong entrepreneurial side who helps senior management teams to codify and communicate their story. He has created and evolved brands form many of the worlds leading organisations including Orange, British Airways, Marks and Spencer, BlackBerry, Yahoo, HTC and a host of SME players.

Prior to joining Prophet John co-founded Figtree, the multi- award winning, highly creative branding agency that was recently acquired by Prophet. During this period he co-built the agency in London to a team of 35 and then moved to Asia to build the office in Hong Kong and develop the business in the region.

Between 2009 and 2011, John was the only external member of HTC's global marketing board. He lead the team that created HTC's brand and oversaw much of the internal and external implementation work, helping HTC to become one of the worlds leading smartphone brands and the 98th most valuable brand (Interbrand Top 100) in under two years.

John began his career as a designer at Newell and Sorrell, the creative British design business before joining Interbrand as a creative director. He is a regular commentator on brand related issues for Bloomberg and the BBC. He was also asked to represent the British Creative Industries on a recent UK government trade mission to Beijing led by Lord Marland and Odstock.

He now lives and works with his family in Asia and is attempting to learn Mandarin!
