Healthcare Business Development Specialist

The Role

The healthcare business development specialist will work closely with healthcare practice leadership to define and deliver a targeted commercial strategy and program that turns qualified prospects into successful customers. In this role, you will flex a range of analytic, strategic, organizational and creative skills to understand customer motivations and behaviors, develop actionable strategies for nurturing prospects through the sales funnel, and take a lead role in activating that strategy to achieve results for the business. This role reports to the Director, business development.


Define and implement a strategy for nurturing healthcare leads through a mix of compelling content and other calls to action. Work alongside commercial leadership to develop and implement tailored strategies and plans that advance prospects through the sales funnel.

  • Analyze customer and marketing data to identify the profiles, patterns of behavior and activities that are most predictive of successful conversion
  • Develop and implement a tailored nurture approach that aligns with the prospect’s interests and funnel stage
  • Assist the healthcare vertical team in producing and/or curating the commercial assets and playbooks used for contact nurturing
  • Own coordination between marketing, vertical teams and other stakeholders throughout the lead nurturing process
  • Monitor results and continuously optimize lead nurturing programs
  • Support continuous improvement by providing customer insights back to the marketing and vertical teams and helping shape messaging and value propositions for future marketing campaigns

Seek new business opportunities by contacting and developing relationships with potential customers. Play a leading role in introducing Prophet’s capabilities and offerings to prospects, nurturing marketing qualified leads to sales qualified opportunities.

  • Respond, engage and qualify inbound leads and inquiries
  • Nurture leads from marketing campaigns through a variety of channels and techniques such as invitations to roundtables, participation inf Prophet research and appearances on podcasts.
  • Hold informed and engaging conversations over the phone and email, acting as the subject matter expert on Prophet’s healthcare offerings
  • Identify client needs and present Prophet to potential clients, helping educate them on Prophet’s relevant capabilities and expertise
  • Coordinate all pre-sales activity (credentials documents, cases, thought-leadership, etc.)
  • Drive attendance for webinars and events, recruit participants for research and thought-leadership development
  • Set up meetings between qualified prospects and Prophet healthcare experts
  • Equip sellers with information and insights needed to have meaningful discussions by preparing ‘fact packs’ on the prospect company and individual buyer
  • Stay abreast of key trends and market events in the healthcare sector
  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of leads and lead qualification activity in CRM

  • Strategic thinker with strong analytic capabilities, able to identify trends and insights across multiple data sources and make proactive recommendations
  • Confident, tenacious, results-oriented individual who is motivated by a desire to meet and exceed metric
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with a strong customer-service orientation with hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques (including cold calls)
  • Collaborative team player, with the ability to work independently and under general direction with a strong sense of motivation to succeed
  • Outgoing, positive “people-person” who enjoys meeting people and building high-trust relationships
  • Bachelor’s degree with a proven track record of academic and professional success, MBA preferred
  • 7+ years experience in healthcare or professional services organizations, management consulting is a plus
  • Relevant experience working in demand-generation marketing or business development roles (sales development representative or similar)
  • Knowledge of and interest in the healthcare space
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience with CRM software (ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365)
