The Role

Prophet is seeking a qualified candidate to assume the position of Talent Director in Asia. He/she will be an important driver of regional growth plans and instrumental in developing the strategic and tactical plans required to scale this ~50 person business to the next level of growth. He/she will execute the operational People Team plan, manage recruiting activities across Asia, implement firm policies, address legal concerns and immigration issues, escalate and help problem solve employee conflicts and promote firm values. He/she will be located in either our Shanghai or Hong Kong office.

Desired candidates must be mature, experienced human resource professionals who have been responsible for an employee base that spans multiple locations. Prophet is a global firm and this position will be responsible for activities in the Hong Kong and Shanghai offices. Additionally, the Talent Director liaises closely with other team members in the US and Europe and takes direction from the Partner of Recruiting and Partner of People (both in New York).

Role and Responsibilities

This role supports the regional plan and global people plan to provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture through the recruitment, ongoing development and retention of superior and “Prophet-right” talent.

The Talent Director must be a strong strategic thinker with demonstrated experience collaborating with senior leaders to propose, develop and implement tools and processes that will help manage fast pace growth in the region.

The Talent Director is expected to provide on-the-ground practical, consistent proactive counsel and direction to individual employees and Prophet’s Asia leadership team. He or she is responsible for all or part of these areas:

  • Recruiting
    • Sourcing

    • Selection/Offers
    • Closing
  • Onboarding
  • Learning/Development agenda
  • Performance management
  • Policy benchmarking, development, documentation, implementation
  • Employee Brand
  • Immigration (visas, processing, compliance)
  • Employee relations, support, counseling
  • Culture event support & coordination
  • Experience working in a professional services firm in a human resources capacity, ideally in both recruiting and generalist HR functions
  • Experience working with senior level executives across a matrix organization, balancing decision making with collaboration
  • Experience in a fast paced environment where speed and quality are equally important
  • At least 10+ years of working experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and/or roles managing others
  • Proven negotiation and mediation capabilities
  • Strong written and verbal communications
  • Diplomatic, persuasive, good influencer
  • Ability to work successfully in a dynamic environment with limited supervision
  • Creative problem solving abilities and willing to roll up their sleeves (as necessary) to get things done
  • Effective at building consensus
  • Undergraduate degree required; other professional degrees or certifications are a plus
  • Mandarin fluency and experience working in China strongly preferred
