Access to clinical trials offers hope to those who’ve received the devastating diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.  However, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network struggled to get patients and health care professionals to utilize its massive cancer trials database. It was difficult to use and a barrier to understanding the benefits of participation. A new digital marketing initiative including a new website and Trial Finder tool drove search conversion from 7% to 94%.

Giving doctors and patients swift access to potentially life-saving trials is an essential step in reducing the disease’s mortality rate. But potential users often left the site before finding out if a trial was right for them.

Making the search experience easier and more efficient was the first step. Our team integrated a custom-built API, provided robust filtering to narrow results and developed a complex caching system to reduce load times 90%. Our team then went on to reconfigure the sequence of exchanging personal information so that users were able to understand the benefits the tool offered before they verified their identities. Search conversion soared from 7% to 94%. Today, PanCAN’s life-saving Trial Finder averages 5,000 monthly users.

It was beginning to lose share to streaming services and feared it would be unable to sustain its best-in-market portfolio of anime properties. The Prophet team enabled Funimation to take advantage of a new streaming platform and put in place the experience and digital marketing programs to drive traffic, trial and subscription to protect and extend its leadership in anime in North America.

We started by refreshing a traditional segmentation with a digital-first lens to uncover how anime consumers engage and interact with anime titles, fellow fans and media in the online space and build actionable personas.

We designed a fan-first digital value proposition anchored on flexibility and customization – a highly differentiated position in a crowded anime market. This new model entirely reshapes product, pricing, content and community.

Prophet then designed a new customer capture, trial, subscription and loyalty rewards pathway to address key gaps and pain points. After prioritizing the pathway touch point ideas based on feasibility and business impact we estimate revenue impact, and completed a digital marketing plan, including a revamped social strategy.

Results: Prophet’s playbook has repositioned Funimation as the leader in the streaming anime market. Funimation achieved their company subscriber goals, paving the way for its recent acquisition by Sony for $143mm.
